With advancing global warming, algal bloom are increasing in severity. Since toxic algal bloom damages liver functions, eliminating it from drinking water has become an increasing concern. CRI-up®, developed by UES, uses two components: activated charcoal to absorb and remove dirt and algal bloom suspended in water, and titanium dioxide to break down these impurities through photocatalytic action. CRI-up® is an ideal solution to the problem of algal bloom.

CRI-up® is created using a novel technology that employs a 1000 ? 1100 oC activating process that coats activated carbon with titanium dioxide to endow the material with both absorbent and reductive properties. CRI-up®'s effectiveness has been evaluated and the technology has been awarded a United States patent.(U.S. 1.613.738.B2)
Activated charcoal has long been used as a deodorizing and water-purifying agent. While activated charcoal alone is reliably effective, test results make clear that using it in conjunction with titanium dioxide as a photo-catalytic agent removes toxic algal bloom and other algae.
