Toxic algal bloom becomes a UNESCO concern
Environmental problems encompass a vast range of concerns, including water, soil, and air quality. One such problem is the increasingly severe algal bloom in lakes worldwide, polluting drinking water in countries all over the world. These algal bloom result in accumulations of cyanobacteria on the water surface, many of them toxic, raising concerns over human intake of liver damaging and carcinogenic microcystins. In fact, the damage to public health from toxic algal bloom has been confirmed in countries all over the world, prompting UNESCO to embark on building a global network to combat the problem.
As its contribution, UES has developed an effective solution to dealing with algal bloom – CRI-up®, a revolutionary water purification product that combines activated charcoal with a titanium dioxide catalytic agent. Besides wiping out algal bloom, the absorbent properties of activated charcoal and the reductive properties of titanium dioxide improve water quality. CRI-up® is an effective measure for dealing with the growing health problem posed by algal bloom.
